WELCOMING SPEECH BY THE DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER – Yu.P. TRUTNEV – PLENIPOTENTIARY OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION TO THE FAR EASTERN FEDERAL DISTRICT AT THE OPENING OF THE DAYS OF THE FAR EAST IN MOSCOW

Read in full

Dear participants and guests of the Days of the Far East!

Greetings to the participants and guests of the Days of the Far East, which will be held in December in Moscow!

Such an event is held in the Russian capital for the first time. And we sincerely hope that it will attract interest of the Muscovites and visitors.

Many of you, even if have not been to the Far East, then have probably heard a lot about the amazing nature of this region, which is one third of the territory of our country, about the talents and hospitality of the Far Eastern inhabitants, and also about the sweeping changes that are taking place in the Pacific part of Russia.

On behalf of the President of Russia, V.V. Putin, who designated the development of the Far East as a national priority for the entire 21st century, it has being created a new economy in the region. Large companies, small and medium-sized businesses are granted tax privileges and administrative preferences, including soft loans; and it is also offered support for the state development institutions. There have been established the Priority Development Areas (PDAs) and the Free Port of Vladivostok. Unique opportunities for opening their own business are available to participants of the ambitious program: “The Far Eastern Hectare”. Over 32 thousand people have already been able to obtain the land plots for free. More than 100 thousand citizens sent their applications.

We want to demonstrate to the guests of the Days of the Far East that it is comfortably and safely to live and travel in the region; and to work there is economically efficient and profitable. Those wishing to check this out, can study the employment opportunities at the Job Fair, associated with the enterprises under construction in the region, such as the Shipbuilding Complex “Zvezda”, the Amur Gas Processing Plant, the Eastern Petrochemical Complex, the Nakhodka Fertilizer Plant and other major investment projects.

In the center of Moscow, on the Tverskaya Square, it will be organized the Far Eastern Fair which will give exposure of the traditional culture and typical cuisine of the region, sea and taiga delicacies.

I am confident that many active Muscovites will be minded to take advantage of the unique opportunities created at the Far East for self-realization and, thereby, will launch a new wave of promising projects. I wish the participants and guests of the Days of the Far East to enjoy visiting the events and to discover in a new way one of the most beautiful regions of our homeland!
